The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court to probe alleged irregularities surrounding the ongoing litigation over the Local Government Council crisis in the state.

The dispute began after the Osun State Government approached the Federal High Court in Osogbo, seeking to restrain the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) from releasing allocations to council officials elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The state government, however, condemned attempts to transfer the case to Abuja, describing the move as prejudicial and alleging foul play.

Speaking to journalists in Osogbo, PDP Chairman Sunday Bisi raised concerns over letters purportedly assigning the case to a judge, allegedly signed by one Joshua Ibrahim Aji, who claimed to be an aide to the Chief Judge.

“We, the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State, therefore call on the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court to immediately probe these irregularities,” Bisi said. “He must investigate how and why persons, purportedly working in his office, who are not judicial officers, are signing letters that carry the force of judicial authority.

“We demand accountability. We demand transparency. Above all, we demand respect for the rule of law,” he added.
