The Oloke of Oke-Olooru, Oba Mukaila Adebisi, has called on the Nigeria Police Force to investigate what he described as a criminal conspiracy by some officials and traditional rulers to unlawfully reverse his recent promotion.

In a petition dated November 4, 2025, and addressed to the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone XI Command, Osogbo, Oba Adebisi — through his lawyer, Daud Akinloye — alleged that certain individuals within the Osun State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs had forged government documents to facilitate his demotion.

The monarch, who was recently elevated to Part II Chief status by Governor Ademola Adeleke following approval by the State Executive Council, said the forged document was part of a plot to mislead the government into nullifying his lawful promotion.

According to the petition, the purported conspiracy has led to threats to his life, intimidation, and actions likely to cause a breach of public peace in his community.

“On September 15, 2025, after fulfilling all procedures under the Chiefs Law of Osun State (2002), our client was duly promoted to Part II Chieftain by the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, based on the approval of the State Executive Council meeting held on September 12, 2025,” the petition read.

The letter further stated that Oba Adebisi received his Staff of Office on September 16, 2025, and that his promotion was gazetted the following day by the Ministry of Information.

However, according to the monarch, rumours soon emerged that a fellow traditional ruler in the area was “celebrating the reversal of his promotion,” prompting him to write to the ministry on September 23, 2025, urging restraint and adherence to due process.

“The rumour was later confirmed when it became apparent that some elements within the Ministry, in connivance with certain traditional rulers, were attempting to illegally set aside our client’s appointment,” the petition alleged.

Oba Adebisi’s counsel maintained that any reversal of his elevation without a fair hearing would violate Section 20(3) of the Chiefs Law of Osun State and the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

“We therefore request that your office deploys investigators to probe the conspiracy among some officials of the Osun State Government and traditional rulers, who have forged and impersonated official documents to fraudulently and illegally remove our client from office,” Akinloye wrote.

The petition urged the police to bring all culprits to justice, warning that their actions — including forgery, intimidation, and conduct likely to breach the peace — were not only illegal but also a direct affront to the rule of law and the authority of the state government.
