#OsunDecides: INEC prioritises PWDs, pregnant women, others

Voting in Saturday’s Osun state governorship poll commenced at about 8:40 at Ward 3, Unit 7, Isale Osun, Osogbo, with persons with disabilities, aged and pregnant women given right to vote before others.

Two separate queues were formed with PWDS, the aged and pregnant women staying in a line, while other voters were in the second queue.

Bimodal Voter Accreditation System however did not however detect the thumb of a physically challenged, Olatunde Adio, who was given the right to vote first.

The machine later accepted his picture and he was allowed to vote.

Speaking after casting his vote, a PWD, Adio Olatunde, expressed gratitude to INEC for giving PWDs and other categories of vulnerable people the opportunity to vote before others.

He said, “I came from Owode-Ede this morning. I thank INEC for giving people like me the opportunity to vote before others. Pregnant women and the aged are also in separate queues. BIVAS didn’t accept my thumb but it accepted my photograph and I was allowed to vote.”
