Oyo Approves ₦17.1bn for Dualisation of Ajia Road, Other Major Projects

The Oyo State Government has approved ₦17.1bn for the dualisation of Ajia Road in Ibadan and ₦26.4bn for the 30km Okaka–Otu Igbojaye Road. Other approved projects include Apete–Awotan, Eruwa township roads, and Ojoo–IITA–Akinyele dualisation.

The Oyo State Government has approved ₦17.1 billion for the dualisation of the Ajia Road project in Ibadan.

Commissioner for Works and Transport, Mojeed Mogbonjubola, disclosed this on Tuesday while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting.

According to him, the dualisation will begin at Ajia Junction on the Ibadan–Ife Expressway and end at the Nigerian Air Force Base in Ajia. The contractor has been given a 12-month timeline for delivery.

Mogbonjubola further announced that the council also approved ₦26.4 billion for the reconstruction of the 30-kilometre Okaka–Otu Igbojaye Road.

Additionally, ₦1.9 billion was approved for the completion of the remaining two kilometres of the 20-kilometre Apete–Awotan concrete road project, which includes a spur to the Akufo Farm Settlement. He recalled that 18 kilometres of the project had been completed a few years earlier.

The commissioner also revealed that ₦4.1 billion was earmarked for the construction of a 0.75km Isaba–Ogundoyin Road and other township road projects in Eruwa, totalling 1.9 kilometres. These projects are expected to be completed within 12 months.

In another major development, the SEC approved the dualisation of the 13.6-kilometre Ojoo–IITA–Akinyele Interchange Road, with a spur at the Ibadan–Oyo Expressway. The contractor has been given 18 months to complete the project.

Mogbonjubola explained that the Ojoo–IITA–Akinyele project would complement the rail transport corridor at Moniya and enhance connectivity across the state.
