The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has paid glowing tribute to the late former Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase (Rtd), describing him as a rare gem whose humility, compassion, and service to humanity left an indelible mark.

In a statement signed by Chief (Sir) Dr. Obiuwevbi Ominimini, PANDEF’s National Publicity Secretary, the forum said it was fully represented at the two-day funeral rites held in Benin City, Edo State. The ceremonies included a vigil mass at St. Paul Catholic Church, Airport Road, on October 2, 2025, and a requiem mass on October 3, 2025, at the same venue.

Leading the PANDEF delegation, Ambassador Godknows Igali broke down in tears as he eulogized the late police chief. He recalled Arase’s humility despite his high office, noting that his consistent support for orphanages — especially on his birthdays — demonstrated his lifelong commitment to humanity.

“Men like him are too few. He devoted his life to helping humanity and was still very much needed,” Igali said.

Igali also highlighted Arase’s continued service after retiring from the police, as Edo State Chairman of PANDEF and founding President of the Benin Consultative Forum.

The funeral attracted PANDEF national executives, state chairmen, and numerous dignitaries, reflecting the late IGP’s far-reaching influence and connections.

“His passing has created a big vacuum. We strongly believe that Solomon Arase lived a life that reflected the teachings of Christ, and we are confident that he shall make heaven. May his soul rest in peace,” the forum added.
