Paris 2024: Nigerian wrestler Blessing Oborodudu to compete for bronze after losing semi-final

In the women’s 68kg wrestling semifinals of the Paris 2024 Olympics, Meerim Zhumanazarova of Kyrgyzstan triumphed against Nigerian wrestler Blessing Oborodudu.

At the end, Zhumanazarova defeated Oborodudu 3-1.

Oborodudu’s defeat means she won’t be able to fulfill her dream of being the first wrestler from Nigeria to make it to two consecutive Olympic finals.

In order to find out if she can win a bronze medal at this year’s Games, the World Bronze medallist will now watch the results of the repechage matches.

In a dramatic quarterfinal match, Oborodudu showcased her resilience by overcoming a two-point deficit to defeat World No. 3 Koumba Larroque of France with a score of 6-2.

Despite the enthusiastic support for the home favorite Larroque, Blessing Oborodudu’s performance demonstrated her skill and determination on the mat.
