Passengers panics as Max Air plane suffers tyre burst in Kano

A Max Air aircraft with the registration 5N-MBD, Tuesday night, reportedly suffered a tyre burst at the Mallam Aminu International Airport, MAKIA, Kano State.

Opinion Nigeria gathered that there were 53 passengers onboard the aircraft flight VM1605 which departed from Lagos.

A video circulating online showed that an emergency team was on the ground to deboard the passengers.

Opinion Nigeria, however, learnt that all the passengers onboard the flight were evacuated safely without any injury.

Confirming the incident, the airline’s management, in a statement, said while the aircraft had been removed from the runway as of 04:28, the Kano runway would remain temporarily closed for inspection and clearance, which might lead to some delays in flight operations.

The statement reads: “We wish to inform the public that one of our aircraft experienced an incident upon landing in Kano yesterday. “As a result, the Kano runway will remain temporarily closed for inspection and clearance, which may lead to some delays in flight operations today, Wednesday, 29/01/2025. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience as we await further updates on the runway reopening.”
