PDP Delegates Gather in Osogbo as Governorship Primary Kicks Off in Osun
PDP delegates arrive at Adolak Hall, Osogbo, as the Osun governorship primary begins despite leadership disputes. INEC and party electoral committee oversee the high-stakes election.
Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State have arrived at Adolak Hall in Osogbo for the party’s governorship primary election, amid heightened security to prevent any outbreak of violence.
The arrival of delegates comes after a brief controversy, as State PDP Chairman Mr. Sunday Bisi announced on Monday that the primary would be postponed due to the crisis in the party’s national leadership. However, National Organising Secretary Theophilus Shan insisted the election would proceed as planned.
By 11:04 a.m. on Tuesday, the hall was filled with delegates, with the party’s electoral committee, led by Humphery Abba, also in attendance. Other committee members include Bar. Marc Jacob, Chief Sanya Atofarati, Mrs. Scholastical Kenebi, Chief Anene Azubuike, Mrs. Splendour Josephine, and Dr. Sunday Solarin, who serves as secretary.
Officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were also present to monitor the exercise.
Further updates on the outcome of the primary are awaited.
