Police Arrest Robbery Suspect, Recover Stolen Mercedes-Benz in Delta
Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle was first registered in April 2023 and re-registered in 2025. Contacting the original owner uncovered that the car had been snatched at gunpoint in Abakpa, Enugu State, in April 2023, during which the victim was shot. The vehicle has since been recovered.
The Delta State Police Command has arrested a suspected armed robber, Chinedu Eze, and recovered a stolen Mercedes-Benz GLK during a sting operation in Asaba, Delta State.
This was disclosed in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, on Sunday in Asaba.
According to Edafe, the operation followed credible intelligence received by the Divisional Police Officer of B Division, Asaba, CSP Edewor Akponegware, on August 5, 2025. The tip-off indicated that a Mercedes-Benz GLK with registration number NZM10AP—believed to have been stolen—was about to be sold at a parking lot on Former Deputy Road, Asaba.
“Acting swiftly on this information, the DPO led officers of the Division’s Crime Branch to the location,” Edafe stated. “This intelligence operation resulted in the arrest of one Chinedu Eze, who claimed ownership of the vehicle while attempting to sell it to an unsuspecting buyer.”

In a separate incident, the command also arrested two suspected armed robbers in Ogwashi-Uku.
On August 4, 2025, around 4:30 a.m., a distress call alerted the Ogwashi-Uku Police Station about ongoing armed robbery activity along Chelsea Street. The Divisional Police Officer, CSP Okoyomon Israel, quickly mobilised the Anti-Crime Squad and local vigilante teams to the area.
On arrival, the suspects attempted to flee but were apprehended. They were identified as 22-year-old Thywill Selvin of Poly Road, Ogwashi-Uku, and 32-year-old Guntim Bako of Kwale Junction.
Recovered from the suspects were one pump-action rifle with one live cartridge, one Beretta pistol loaded with six cartridges, and three additional rounds of assault rifle ammunition.
SP Edafe reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property in the state, assuring residents of continued efforts to combat crime.
