Real-time updates from the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM) show that the official Pound-to-Naira rate is about ₦1,930.87, marking a mild 0.18% dip from Wednesday’s close of ₦1,933.07. The movement reflects a steady yet cautious trading atmosphere in the official forex window.

In the parallel market, the Pound traded almost level with official rates, further reducing the arbitrage gaps that dominated previous years. Informal traders offered exchange rates between ₦1,927.00 and ₦1,935.00.

Some international money transfer operators (IMTOs), including Remitly, provided slightly higher incentives for remittance inflows, with promotional rates reaching up to ₦1,977.24.

Market observers highlighted an improved performance of the Naira compared with the previous year. On December 4, 2024, the Pound exchanged at roughly ₦2,067.69. Today’s valuation of around ₦1,930 indicates a 6.68% year-on-year appreciation of the Naira, driven by ongoing FX reforms and stabilisation efforts.

The current GBP/NGN valuation also correlates with the Pound’s relative strength to the US Dollar. With the NFEM USD/NGN rate holding between ₦1,448 and ₦1,450, the Pound’s corresponding rate reflects a typical GBP/USD cross-rate of about 1.33.
