President Buhari seeks diasporans support for Tinubu

A Senior Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Dr Arabo Ibrahim, who spoke on behalf of the Nigerian community in Qatar thanked the President for restoring peace in the troubled North-East.

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Tuesday, in Qatar, advised Nigerians living in the Gulf country to support the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, as he assumes office on May 29.

“Support the incoming government of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, so that Nigeria will continue to be the beacon of hope and prosperity in our continent,” Buhari said at a Town Hall meeting organised by the Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Erewa, and her team.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, revealed this in a statement he signed on Wednesday titled ‘President Buhari calls on Nigerians in diaspora to support Tinubu’s government.’

Buhari said his regime is resolute to engineer transparent and fair elections which will conclude with the Governorship and State Assembly elections this Saturday, March 11.

Therefore, their support for Tinubu who emerged as President-elect one week ago will make Nigeria “an example for other African countries to emulate.”

The President acknowledged the noble roles played by Nigerians in the Diaspora and all over the world toward the development of their home country.

To support their efforts, he said his regime established a National Diaspora Policy and supported the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission to develop programmes for the engagement of Nigerians abroad.

In his remarks, the Nigerian Ambassador to the State of Qatar, Yakubu Ahmed, congratulated Buhari on the just-concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections.

Ahmed said the February 25, elections proved how strong Nigeria’s democracy has become.

Therefore, he prayed for an equally successful Governorship and State Assembly elections this Saturday.

A Senior Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Dr Arabo Ibrahim, who spoke on behalf of the Nigerian community in Qatar thanked the President for restoring peace in the troubled North-East.

“Our people were chased out of Mubi in Adamawa State by Boko Haran terrorists, peace is back. Now we go there and sleep peacefully,” Ibrahim remarked.

Another member of the community, Prof. Akintunde Akinade, also thanked the President for conducting an electoral process where money took a back seat.

Akinade said “This is an election where money has taken a back seat. We’re very grateful to see what has happened this time in the presidential election.”
