President Tinubu sends condolence letter to Iran over President Raisi death

In light of the death of Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, President Ebrahim Raisi, and other officials in a helicopter crash, President Bola Tinubu has sent his condolences to the Iranian government and people.

President Tinubu conveyed his deep sadness over this unsettling incident and praised President Raisi as a leader who was fervently dedicated to Iran’s advancement.

In a statement released by his spokesperson, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for the Iranian people’s continued peace, stability, and prosperity.

The President of the Islamic Republic of Nigeria promised the country’s prayers and support at this time of sorrow on behalf of the government and people of Nigeria.

Recall that President Raisi died on Monday after his helicopter crashed in a mountainous region of the country.

Raisi was travelling with Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian who also died in the accident.

Rescue teams had been scouring the area since Sunday afternoon after a helicopter carrying Raisi, the foreign minister and other officials had gone missing.

Early Monday, relief workers located the missing helicopter, with state TV saying the president had died.

“The servant of Iranian nation, Ayatollah Ebrahim Raisi has achieved the highest level of martyrdom whilst serving the people,” state television said Monday, with Mehr news agency also saying he was dead.
