Professor Ndifon accused of rape

Calabar, 14th August – Tensions have surged at the Management of the University of Calabar, as female law students have come forward to accuse their faculty Dean, Professor Cyril Ndifon, of sexual exploitation, rape, and harassment.

In a video that has garnered attention on Twitter, impassioned female students, joined by their male counterparts, were captured engaging in a protest outside the premises of the law faculty at UNICAL. Students boldly held placards bearing powerful messages, revealing their frustration with disturbing inscriptions like, “We are tired of suck*** d***”, “Professor Ndifon, let the girls with big b***** breathe. Stop suffocating us”, “Stop Raping Our Sister, Oga Ndifon”, “Enough of law school list manipulation”. With hashtags like#CyrilNdifonMustGo and #ProtectOurGirls trending on Twitter Calabar.

We gathered that the randy Dean was once suspended by the institution over allegations of sexual harassment and other sundry issues but was later recalled by the current Vice Chancellor, Prof Florence Banku Obi once she became the Chief Executive of the varsity. Various associations, including the Civil Society Group, Sacredhearts Gender Protective Initiative, petition the decision of the Vice Chancellor to recall the Professor of Law. Fellow students shared their fears for the safety of the girls, fearing that they will be put in harms way as a result of speak out against the notorious Prof Ndifon.

Meanwhile, there are reports that the powers that be at the University of Calabar are making concerted efforts to intimidate the students after exposing Professor Ndifon sexual misconducts and lobby the other principal officers in the core management to fall in line of the Vice Chancellor to support and defend Prof Ndifon.

At the time of filing this report, authorities at the University are yet to issue a statement in respect to the development and the Press Officer is yet to reply to our inquiries.
