Re: Ex-NPA MD, Hadiza Bala, Under Fire For Asking For Chibok Girls After

Hadiza Bala was, however, recently shown the way out of the appointment after a fallout with the minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi. Her recent comments have however sparked criticisms, with some Nigerians labeling her as a ‘shameless hypocrite’ and fresh attention seeker for not speaking out while she was in office as NPA, to mention but a few. As several individual Nigerian s cast aspersions, on MD, Hadiza Bala, in a NEWS UPDATE titled:
“Ex-NPA MD, Hadiza Bala, Under Fire For Asking For Chibok Girls After Sack”, published
by Lagos Business News – April 16, 2022; similarly Funmilayo Adesanya–Davies reacts.

“Hadiza Bala, sacked Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has continued to come under intense criticism for her statement lamenting the ongoing insecurity crises in Nigeria. Hadiza spoke in the context of the commemoration of eight years after the Chibok girls were abducted in Borno State by Boko Haram terrorists.

A frontline politician, Princess Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies, the Presidential Candidate of Mass Action Joint Alliance (MAJA) in the 2019 election, and a PDP female presidential aspirant in the up coming 2023 presidential election says, “She wonders why it is now Ex-NPA MD, Hadiza Bala, chose to condemn that situation, now demanding for swift actions from the government to secure the release of victims.”

Could it be that she has possibly resumed her activism after a long break of partaking in the juicy national cake assignment. Does an appointment needs to keep someone’s mouth shut especially as in the case of Hadiza Bala, a mother hen, an a supposedly state mother?

Hadiza, who recently reacted through her verified Twitter handle, condemned the situation and demanded swift actions from the government to secure the release of victims.

According to her: “It is eight years today since 276 girls were abducted in Chibok Secondary School, 109 still remain in captivity. Many more girls, boys and indeed citizens of all ages have been abducted from schools, communities and while en-route journeys,” she wrote.

The former NPA chief was suspended in May 2021 over the allegation of failure to remit the N165 billion operating surplus to the coffers of the federal government. Though she was later cleared of the allegations, President Buhari, however, did not reinstate her to office.

In recent times, several states in the country, including Kaduna, Plateau, Zamfara, Benue and others, have witnessed large number of terrorist attacks. The volatile security situation made northern elders demand the immediate resignation of President Buhari.

We would recall, Usman, a co-coordinator of the #BringBackOurGirls movement, which came to life on the heels of the Chibok abductions had been very active in the movement’s activities until she was appointed the managing director of the NPA.

She had thereafter gone silent on issues around activism, or matters critical of the government. Adesanya-Davies has requested the government on several occasions to bring back the Chibok girls as it was promised during the APC-led Buhari’s administration during their campaigns.

Chibok! The bring back campaign gave your popularity and negotiation power to NPA then it became abandoned project. Aside Chibok, Zamfara, Kaduna etc, then the recent train attack. People are still in captivity. Chibok is special because it was a propaganda machinery for APC.

May God intervene in their case and cause confusion in the camp of agents of darkness so that they can be set free.
