Niger Delta Students Union Government (NDSUG)  endorsed the aspiration of Adesanya-Davies, as President in 2019

Nigerian students had expressed their support for the presidential ambition of the nation’s only female presidential aspirant, Prof. Olufunmilayo Adesanya- Davies in a report by Steve Oni in Our Reporter, June 10, 2018.

The umbrella body of the nation’s students’ unions- National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has also honoured Adesanya-Davies with its most Outstanding Leadership Award of the year 2018.

According to a letter sent to the presidential hopeful by NANS, the Award is an Award of Excellence in Service and Outstanding Leadership, pointing out that the Award was in recognition of her invaluable contributions to youth empowerment, excellence in service and outstanding leadership over the years.

The Award was sent by NANS President Aruna Kadiri, and presented to her by the representative of NANS’ President, Nwala Chetam Thierry, in her office at Rivers State University of Education, Port-Harcourt.

Adesanya-Davies fondly known by her students as PMA humbly accepted the Award, close to tears, saying, “I am overwhelmed and deeply honoured by this Award from NANS. I never knew it would come one day, but it came so soon. It is my over thirty (30) years of lecturing in the Ivory towers. There is definitely a reward for hard labour. I can see there is actually seed-time and harvest.”

She appreciated NANS for the honour bestowed on her and promised to be committed to the New Nigeria Agenda in 2019.

Adesanya-Davies commended the students body for the gesture and urged them to remain dedicated, studious and law abiding at all times.

While dedicating the Award to God who gave her the privilege, Princess Mercy said, she is now more determined to continue to serve the youths and the entire nation as a whole.

The students congratulated Adesanya – Davies on the award and wished her greater heights in Nigeria’s leadership come 2019.

Dio Alabo at the ceremonial said Niger Delta Students Union Government (NDSUG) has endorsed the aspiration of Adesanya-Davies, as President in 2019.

“We the Niger Delta Student’s Union Government, with all honesty and sincerity wishes to declare our support towards Princess Adesanya-Davies’s aspiration as the next President of the nation. Our declaration is based on merit, viewing your continuous fostering of well being of students. We know with you as Nigerian President, education will attain its fullest position in the nation, among other strides and development,” Alabo declared.”

AMB. FUNMILAYO ADESANYA-DAVIES, a linguist educationist public servant since 1988, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria, has served as a University lecturer and administrator for thirty-six (36) years, 1985 to-date as a consultant, researcher and activist to-date. Mercy Olufunmilayo, a multi-talented teacher of teachers is a member of POLAC Int’l Peace Advocate, who currently serves as the Country President, International director, as well as, the Deputy Chairperson on the board, serving humanity towards achieving ECOWAS millennium goals. POLAC – Positive Livelihood Award Centre, alias UN-POLAC ‘s mandate is to enhance the effectiveness of the UN millennium development goals and UNESCO Culture of Peace Programme particularly the maintenance of peace and unity in diversity.

Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies hails from Ira, Kwara State, North Central Nigeria. In the political parlance, once an ardent Member of ACCORD Party in Kwara State over the years, then a prominent People’s Democratic Party (PDP) member, and presidential aspirant in 2019, she later emerged as the presidential candidate of Mass Action Joint Alliance (MAJA) in the 2019 election.
