Semenyo Brace Leads Bournemouth to 3-1 Comeback Win Over Fulham, Moves Cherries Second
Antoine Semenyo scored twice as Bournemouth staged a late comeback to beat Fulham 3-1 in the Premier League, sending Andoni Iraola’s men to second place, just one point behind leaders Liverpool.
Antoine Semenyo struck twice as Bournemouth produced a dramatic late rally to defeat Fulham 3-1 on Friday, climbing to second place in the Premier League.
Ryan Sessegnon had given Fulham the lead on 70 minutes, but Semenyo’s dazzling solo effort sparked a turnaround at the Vitality Stadium. Justin Kluivert then smashed home a spectacular strike before Semenyo sealed the victory on the counter in stoppage time, taking his tally to six goals in seven league games.
“It’s a great feeling,” said Semenyo. “We lost so many important players for us, but the start to the season has been great and it’s a great environment to be a part of.”
Manager Andoni Iraola’s side now sit just one point behind leaders Liverpool, who face Chelsea on Sunday.
Despite stormy conditions, the game came alive in the final 20 minutes. Kluivert’s thunderous effort from distance showcased his quality after a limited role so far this season, while Semenyo’s pace and precision proved decisive.
Fulham’s search for an equaliser backfired late on as they were exposed at the back, with substitute Ben Gannon-Doak assisting Semenyo’s clincher.
The defeat leaves Marco Silva’s men in 11th with eight points from their first seven games. “It’s very tough for us the way we lost,” Silva admitted. “The game was totally under control at 1-0.”
