The Senate has commenced the screening of three ambassadorial nominees submitted by President Bola Tinubu for confirmation.

The exercise began on Tuesday under the leadership of Senator Sani Bello (APC, Niger North), who chairs the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs.

All three nominees appeared before the committee and were individually screened. The committee’s report will later be presented at plenary for consideration and, if approved, formal confirmation.

During the session, Senator Bello noted that nominee Ayodele Oke had responded to and resolved all allegations previously raised against him.

President Tinubu, in a letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio last week, sought the confirmation of the nominees:

  • Kayode Are (Ogun State)
  • Aminu Dalhatu (Jigawa State)
  • Ayodele Oke (Oyo State)

These three names were forwarded to the Senate ahead of 32 additional ambassadorial nominees announced by the President, whose names have yet to be formally read by Akpabio.
