Serie A bans Conte for two matches after Inter clash
Napoli coach Antonio Conte has been handed a two-match Serie A suspension for insulting officials during the 2-2 draw with Inter Milan, ruling him out of clashes with Parma and Sassuolo.
Napoli head coach Antonio Conte has been handed a two-match suspension by Serie A following his dismissal in his side’s 2-2 draw with league leaders Inter Milan.
Conte was shown a red card midway through the second half after a penalty was awarded to Inter, with officials citing abusive conduct toward match referees.
According to the Serie A disciplinary committee, “after his sending-off, he kicked a ball placed at the edge of the pitch and approached the fourth official in an intimidating manner, repeating insulting remarks.”
The ban means the former Italy national team coach will miss Napoli’s rescheduled fixture against Parma on Wednesday and Saturday’s home game against Sassuolo.
Conte, who guided Napoli to the Scudetto in his first season in charge last May, currently has his side third in the Serie A standings on 39 points — four behind Inter, whom Napoli edged to the title last season.
