Vice-President Kashim Shettima departs South Africa for Angola to represent President Tinubu at the 7th AU-EU Summit, focusing on shared development challenges.
Vice-President Kashim Shettima has left Johannesburg for Luanda, where he will represent President Bola Tinubu at the upcoming AU-EU Summit in Angola.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President).
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Shettima had earlier attended the 20th G20 Leaders’ Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Nkwocha explained that the Vice-President will join other Heads of State and Government from the African Union (AU) and the European Union (EU) for the 7th AU-EU meeting, scheduled to hold from Monday to Wednesday in Luanda.
He noted that the gathering will also bring together young leaders, innovators, and Civil Society Organisations to deliberate on shared challenges facing both regions.
The summit, he added, is expected to produce recommendations on key issues such as climate change, inclusive development, infrastructure, digital economy, the creative sector, manufacturing, and agribusiness.
Shettima is expected to return to Nigeria at the conclusion of the AU-EU summit.
