Soludo Confident of Landslide Win in Anambra, Dismisses Vote-Buying Claims
Governor Chukwuma Soludo says APGA will win the Anambra governorship election by a landslide, insisting that even massive vote-buying won’t change the people’s will.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo has expressed strong confidence that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) will achieve a landslide victory in the ongoing Anambra governorship election, despite reports of widespread vote-buying in some parts of the state.
Soludo, who voted at Ofeiyi Ward 19, Polling Unit 002, Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area, around 1:30 p.m., said he had been receiving updates on the election’s progress from across Anambra.
“Today is election day, and as expected, I’ve been getting calls from all over the state. So far, the process has been relatively peaceful and going on smoothly,” the governor told journalists after casting his vote.
He acknowledged a few technical hitches, particularly with BVAS machines in certain polling units, including Orumbanasa, but noted that the overall process remained calm and orderly.
“The reports we’re getting indicate that in one or two areas, especially in Nnewi South, there’s been massive vote-buying. A particular candidate from that area seems desperate to win his local government and has been sharing ₦15,000 per voter,” Soludo said. “Even if he shares ₦100,000, never mind—let the people vote and let the votes count.”
Reaffirming his optimism, Soludo said he was confident the final results would reflect the true will of Anambra people.
“We are certain that, based on one man, one vote, we will win by a landslide — no doubt about it,” he declared.
