Dr. Nonye Soludo, wife of Anambra State Governor, has invited Miss Jenifer Elohor, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member allegedly brutalized by operatives of the Agunechemba security outfit, to the Government House in Awka to sympathize with her over the incident.

An aide to the governor’s wife confirmed the invitation on Wednesday, noting that Dr. Soludo personally called Miss Elohor to express concern and invite her for a meeting.

“The wife of the governor, Dr. Nonye Soludo, has reached out to the NYSC member and invited her to the Government House. She called her on phone and pleaded with her to come for a meeting,” the aide said.

Although Miss Elohor is currently out of Anambra State, she reportedly appreciated the gesture and expressed willingness to visit the First Lady upon her return. “The lady was very happy with the humility of the governor’s wife and promised to honour the invitation soon,” the aide added.

The outreach came as the Anambra State Government confirmed the arrest of eight operatives involved in the assault. The suspects were paraded on Wednesday in Awka and are currently in detention pending the outcome of ongoing investigations.

Governor Soludo’s Special Adviser on Community Security, Prince Ken Emeakayi, acknowledged the incident and described the officers’ actions as “unacceptable and regrettable.”

According to Emeakayi, the Agunechemba operatives, working alongside the central strike force, were in pursuit of suspected cultists riding motorcycles when the suspects fled into a residential compound. During the subsequent search, the corps member was allegedly assaulted.

“As part of our internal conflict-resolution mechanism, the men involved have been arrested,” he said. “We have also reached out to the victim and her NYSC local government headquarters. They have visited my office in Awka.”

Emeakayi assured that the state government is handling the matter with seriousness and that disciplinary measures will be taken.

Earlier, Dr. Nonye Soludo had publicly condemned the assault and stressed that justice must be served to deter future misconduct by security personnel.
