Stopping The Parasitic Politicians

Over the years in Nigeria, events by political elites has made me realize that there are two types of politicians in our society: A parasitic and a non-parasitic politician. In practice, they both act and think alike, but in theory, their applications differ. A parasitic politician benefits at the expense of not just the non-parasitic politician, but also at the expense of the people, as well as the country itself. In a parasitic politician’s quest for personal growth and development, he fails to care about the people and the nation. And even if it means tearing the country apart to achieve his goals, he would gladly do so. For this class of politician, there’s no feeling, no remorse, no sympathy or empathy, no vision, but a well calculated mission of destruction and sabotage…this type of politician can ignite the flame that will lead to the breakup of a nation.

On the other hand however, the non-parasitic politician in the Nigerian context, is also dangrous. But his deadliness is regulated by his sense of emotional consciouness. As much as he’s inspired to underdevelop the nation in order to develop himself, he has a pre-defined concept of what the right thing should be and how it can be achieved. In a more friendly environment where there’s a workable system in place, this type of politician MAY be trusted, but in a place such as Nigeria, they may be seen on the same footings as the parasitic politician who only came to steal, kill and destroy. A perfect example of this type of politician is seen in the portrayal of a “GOOD COP BAD COP” relationship in the police force. They both want the same result, but have to pass through different doors in order to realize it.

Nigeria right now is in a very difficult and delicate place, the challenges that faces it are large and strong, the visible path of solution to Nigeria’s problem seem narrow and very few of us are giving thoughts to what the future for us all will look like if nothing is done to end the current state of individuality and separatism in the land. The true danger in our situation lies in the closeness of the election year. The atmosphere is tensed, politically and otherwise. In this condition, carefulness is required and peoples sense of reasoning, needed. Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda were once placed in this difficult position, the end result was never palatable to both the eyes and ears. The parasitic politicians are making divisive statements and the Nigerian people, we, are applauding them and saying that the ruling party has met their match.
Recently, the governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Amaechi, stated that if the ruling party should win the presidential election come 2015, that they the opposition will form a parallel government. This is not just an ordinary statement, this is a looming wind of anarchy blowing towards our direction. The parasitic politician will stop at nothing in its quest to gain position. Nigeria’s future is threatened, the bond that binds the people together loosened, the only hope this country now have, rest on the people, the Nigerian people.

Following the individual party representative’s antecedents, one would have no second thought in asserting that their aim is not to redefine the status quo for the betterment of the Nigerian populace, but for the attainment of their personal objectives and actualization of party dreams. As it stands, they are playing their card very well, because right now, Nigerians are divided in two different lines, between party A and B but none is holding the “Nigeria” line and that, is where my very worry lies. For many years the Nigerian people have laid their entire hope on political leaders, believing that their PROMISES, POLICIES or ACTIONS from will somehow reshape their moments. This have never happened and perhaps, may never happen if nothing is done by the people who give the POWER -Nigerians!

No amount of bribe money should be enough to influence you in taking a decision you do not believe in. No amount of bags of rice or salt should be enough to control your actions and inactions…it is the wrong decisions, actions and inactions of our parents that brought us to where we all are today, if we continue in this path, our children tomorrow, will stand where we are standing today, and they will curse our very existence.

Nigerians are ready to make a decision on whose shoulder the leadership of this nation will rest on come 2015, but the question is, this decision, is it to be made with Nigeria in consideration? And what kind of politician(s) are they entrusting the nations leadership to come 2015?
