The Academic Staff Union of Universities, or ASUU, and the federal government are currently holding a meeting in Abuja.

The meeting is taking place in response to the university lecturers’ union’s recent threat to resign over the purported inability of the federal government to abide by its demands.

However, despite the fact that no explanation for the breakdown was given, the two sides were unable to get together on Monday.

The meeting is aimed at preventing another nationwide strike in the nation’s public universities.

ASUU representatives to the meeting, led by its president, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, are in the meeting taking place at the Conference Hall of the Federal Ministry of Education, the venue of the event.
