Sultan, Alaafin, Soun Arrive Ibadan for Oba Ladoja’s Coronation as 44th Olubadan
The coronation of Oba Ladoja is widely regarded as a historic cultural event, drawing top monarchs, political leaders, and thousands of residents eager to witness the installation of Ibadan’s 44th traditional ruler.
Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, came alive on Friday as prominent traditional rulers and dignitaries arrived for the coronation of Oba Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Leading the arrivals was the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, who was welcomed by Oyo State Commissioner for Works, Alhaji Mojeed Mogbonjubola, senior government officials, and representatives of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA). The Sultan was accompanied by his traditional aides, Muslim leaders, and dignitaries from Sokoto.
Other revered monarchs at Mapo Hall, the coronation venue, include the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade; the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Adeoye; the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale; and the Olugbo of Ugbo Kingdom, Oba Fredrick Obateru Akinruntan.
Earlier, former Ogun State governors, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and Otunba Gbenga Daniel, were among the first political leaders to arrive in the city for the landmark ceremony.
