At first, one will logically ask why she was in church to read, was there an examination she was hopping to write. Being a Uniben graduate myself both first and second degree, I know the safety in reading inside The chapel, St Albert and the mosque for Muslims and I know how dangerous Benin can be. But yet Uwa went to read in a church and was molested and killed.

I won’t be surprised if all these social media and broadcast noise ends with nothing meaningful, infact this is Nigeria where the criminal joins to speak against the crime he or she did committed. All these internet sensations will be pulled down as another funny news will take over and only the family of Uwa will be left alone to mourn their loss.

The Nigerian Police force is not a force one can back on. Imagine some people killed the then Attorney General of the federation and they are still walking freely and you think those guys in black will do Uwa’s case to the letter. All you will here is few rumors of arrest and that is all. We should ask how they intend to uncover the suspects when they surprisingly lack basic tools and training for such.

The judiciary in Nigeria is another bad luck, even if the police get few culprits to court and what if these criminals have a strong political back up and you keep hearing adjustment upon adjustment till the case fades out of hearing and they are released and warned to stay clear of public radar. The Nigerian judiciary only favours and fights for the powerful only on rare cases is the crime against the weak avenged.

Funniest thing is that the Nigerian society protects criminals due to the fact that some powerful people uses these criminals to do dirty jobs and the powerful won’t want their cover be blown so they protect this wicked souls from the law. Go check why Idris Bobrisky can be taking the risk of doing whatever the He-she is doing, even though what is done is against the law same with rape but some mighty men do rape too

Now for Uwa’s death to be duly avenged or revenged whichever case it may be. I know Benin city well, let the gods of the land arise. The Oba himself should put a curse on the assailants and let’s see who will escape. Because if we wait for Nigerian Police to catch and the judiciary to punish, we will wait for eternity.
