The Kaduna-Abuja Bomb Attacks: Aggrieved APC Candidates Hit Back At Buhari -By Obinna Akukwe

We got wind of attacks but the details of location and targets were hazy. Worried by the disturbing reports, I warned APC in two write-ups, days to the convention, about the consensus option, not because I am particular about any candidate but because the aggrieved parties will react in a manner causing concern to national security.

Intelligence at our disposal suggests that aggrieved APC chieftains who lost out in the consensus primaries used the occasion of the Abuja-Kaduna train bomb attacks to hit back at President Buhari , Chairman Adamu and Rotimi Amechi, a supposed presidential favorite. I expected a tragedy after the APC consensus convention by estranged disenfranchised chieftains and their collaborators. I knew they will hit back at PMB and his consensus feasters, but this is too soon and too massive.

The plot to destabilize Buhari started the moment he retracted from his earlier order that Buni should be replaced as APC Caretaker Chairman. The aggrieved chieftains felt that Buni is a plot to hoist a presidential candidate upon them to whom they will be slaves. The plot thickened to the point that security agencies were on alert and engaged in all round monitoring of some chieftains.

With lots of moles within the system, the plotters decided to use terrorists to attack. The Kaduna Airport was first attacked to force the elites to use the train. The train service was attacked at night to avoid quick response, especially aerial attack and rescue operations. The attacks came after the APC Convention where over eighty percent of the participants were coerced to select candidates they deemed unpopular.

We got wind of attacks but the details of location and targets were hazy. Worried by the disturbing reports, I warned APC in two write-ups, days to the convention, about the consensus option, not because I am particular about any candidate but because the aggrieved parties will react in a manner causing concern to national security.

Therefore, the train bomb attack that killed many Nigerians, including Dr Chinelo Megafu, Dr Abdu Isa Kofa, Barrister Ozigi, Comrade Akinwunmi among other treasurable Nigerians, is politically motivated to tarnish the image of Buhari and the consensus and future consensus feasters on the national cake.

This is not the first time politicians are using terrorists to settle political scores. Our lists are replete with instances. However, I will only recount one experience.

In July 2014, Buhari, then the APC foremost presidential hopeful, was attacked at Kawo Motor Park Area in Kaduna, in an incidence where over 100 persons died. Luckily for Buhari, his Prado Jeep was replaced by a bullet, mortar proof one by a party chieftain, weeks earlier. That was how Buhari escaped assassination when Boko Haram was blamed. However, intelligence analysts traced the suicide attempt to political branch of Boko Haram, which I then tagged ‘PDP-Boko Haram’

I wrote a piece a day after the incidence on July 25tth 2014 titled ‘PDP Boko Haram – before they kill Buhari and brew another civil war’ where I warned the politicians that :

“Yesterday there was an attempt by suicide bombers to kill the main opposition leader to President Goodluck Jonathan’s government in the person of Muhammadu Buhari. The suicide bomber was trailing the convoy of Buhari for a while and deliberately rammed into his convoy, spreading bloodshed at Kawo junction in Kaduna…..

“PDP branch of Boko Haram simply wants to kill Buhari because his political profile in the North has refused to diminish. All the attempts by the clueless and corrupt PDP regime which budgeted and embezzled over four trillion naira ($25 billion dollars) in four years meant for security while rescuing over 250 Chibok Christian girls from the hands of Boko Haram is a mirage, to tarnish the image of Buhari had failed woefully. This obfuscate corrupt PDP which turned Boko Haram into a multi-billion dollar corrupt enrichment programme, instead of exposing the sponsors of Boko Haram, tagged Buhari , Atiku and some northern governors sponsors of Boko Haram in a political propaganda towards 2015 elections.

“It is obvious that the ruling PDP wants to turn Christians against Muslims in Nigeria, and turning Northerners against southerners in Nigeria by trying to kill Buhari. If Buhari had been assassinated, the northerners will abandon the PDP Boko Haram members among their people and descend on Igbo businessmen and women and slaughter them in their tens of thousands, the Igbos will in turn slaughter back some northerners and another civil war will start”.

Therefore I counsel the aggrieved APC chieftains and their high powered government sponsors that killing of innocent persons including Dr Chinelo Megafu, Dr Abdu Isa Kofa, and Comrade Akinwunmi among other innocent travellers is a despicable way of settling political scores.

I also counsel President Buhari to settle and placate all the aggrieved chieftains of APC as a National Leader before the next phase of this attack unravels. This time around critical infrastructures around FCT will be attacked, and Buhari’s men will be seriously embarrassed.

Rev Obinna Akukwe has a duty to God as a cleric, activist, party faithful to sound alarm before politicians use the blood of hapless masses to settle political scores, including my church faithful.

May God grant the lost souls repose, innocent persons who are caught in the rutal crossfire of 2023 politics. Let the aggrieved APC chieftains bent on hitting back at Buhari, assemble political war machines, not terrorist war machines.
