The Need To Do Things Right To Salvage The Nation Advocated As Glad And PVRA Hold Non-partisan Summit In Abuja -By Gladys Amiandamhen

And in a lecture delivered at the occasion by Prof. Hauwa E. Yusuf of Kaduna State University entitled: The Role of the Civil Society Groups in Governance, she observes that the Nigeria weak political landscape characterized by many anomalies constitutes serious impediment to doing things right in the country.

There is a consensus among the speakers that doing things right is the panacea to pull the country out from the brinks at a non-partisan summit themed: Doing it Right for the Right Result organized by Glad to Lead and Inspire Initiative in conjunction with PDP Vote Right Ambassadors, (PVRA) at Ladi Kwali Hall, Sheraton Hotel, Abuja on the 13th August, 2022.

In a well attended ceremony chaired by Douye Diri, the current governor of Bayelsa State had in attendance dignitaries like Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, the former Governor of Niger State, Alhaji Makarfi, the former governor of Kaduna State, Senator Dino Melaye, Senator Shehu Sani, some serving and former senators and House of Reps members, royal fathers, women leaders, personalities from the academia as well as personalities from the public and private sectors.

In the opening remarks at the event, Mrs. Gladys Ashemuke the national Coordinator PVRA/GLAD to Lead Foundation explains that their aim is to lay a foundation for those who will champion the right attitude to doing the right things always noting that Nigeria of our dream is achievable if the right things are done and that will require a change of perception and taking responsibility for one’s actions.

In his address at the occasion, one of the keynote speakers Senator Dino Melaye who spoke as is characteristic of him to the admiration of the audience reeled out statistics from both international and local agencies to describe Nigeria’s current deplorable situation and concluded that the right thing for Nigerians to do at present is to vote out the All Progressives Congress (APC) regime that brought hardship and misery on the country.

On his part, the former governor of Niger State Dr. Mu’azu Babagida Aliyu asserts that doing the right thing entails understanding ones roles and how to play it stating that as an electorate one must play his civic duties without force to change the norms and place the nation on the right footing.
In his address, the chairman of the occasion Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State states that the right thing is for Nigerians to do what is right in order to achieve their desire for a better Nigeria of their dream.

In another development, Hajiya Rabi Musa Saulawa the President of Jam Iyar Matam Arewa, a non-partisan, non-religious and non-ethnic organization, in her contribution spoke on gender right issues. She declares that doing the right thing should involve the right gender mix in governance and in appointment and that giving women a chance could change things for the better for the country.
