The North Is At War With Itself -By Abdulrahman Yunusa

It’s totally unbecoming for the conflictual parties to shun the history of their peaceful relation to some cheap matters that doesn’t worth their attention let alone consuming their long everlasting and marvelous cordial relationship. However, attach to any upheaval there is a lesson to learn for the future.

M Buhari

I have never seen Nigeria more devided than this time, under under a northern retired military General, Muhammadu Buhari. Even those who shared same geographical location, history to some extent and even ancestral background at some point are today fighting each other.

To be precise, the current tussle between Hausa and Fulani is disturbing. Who did this to us? Are we used to such trivialities before or its just by accident we found ourselves in the quagmire we are in today?

How can we convince the upcoming generation that the North used to be a peaceful terrain where the inhabitants mingle with each other irrespective tribal differences or whatsoever in regards to identity? After all the gleaming narratives have being bitterly colored to ugly ones.

Perhaps, crisis of identity was a thing of obscure in the North in those days. For over several decades the ethnics group have been romancing each other as if they were of same origin, although they are of are to some certain degree. Hence they even succeeded in burying the ethnic difference through making social unions among themselves.

Sadly, today the issue is completely different. Things have changed by the passage of time. We bow down and take a different dimension which goes in contrary to that of our grand grandfathers. The rising hostility is out of this world as of today among the major ethnic groups in the North.

Honestly, to say the least, Buhari is the worst thing Nigeria has ever witnessed in her entire history. His advent into the corridors of power is a curse to the then two harmonious ethnic groups which are fighting each other fiercely under the curtain of politics and other politically related issues today.

On a lighter note, I sense some suspicious plan which is meant to, and ochestrated by some intruders to get this everlasting combo broken down. Sadly, soon the chicken would come back home to roast. The invisible hands igniting the fire of animosity among the interrelated parties would bury their face in shame.

North would never be divided Insha Allah.

May we learn the bitter lesson and keep them intact against future reoccurrences.

May North and Nigeria proper 🤲🏾
