The persecution of Uche Nwosu and why I am against police -By Gaddafi Ibrahim Tanko

Ugwumba Uche Nwosu a High flying politician and Former Chief of Staff to immediate past Governor of imo State Senator Rochas Okorocha was on sunday the 26 of December 2021 abducted by Strange Gun wielding persons who claimed to be police officers while he was in church for Sunday service at his hometown, eziama obierri in nkwerre local Government Area of imo State.

The officers who claimed to be acting on instructions from Higher authorities stormed the Church in the most Gestapo manner characterized by sporadic shootings similar to an armed robbery or kidnapping operation.

At first, members of the congregation and Indeed the entire country as widely reported by the press thought it was a kidnap operation as the Gunmen where reported to have surrounded the Community and the church Blocking all potential escape routes.

Most saddening of the Operation is that the members of the Nigeria police where said to have taken Ugwumba Uche Nwosu into custody without a valid warrant of arrest neither was he invited by the State Police High Command.

The entire episode smacks of Desperation on the part of Some persons sitting in Government Houses to frustrate perceived political opponents as it is a notorious fact that Senator Rochas okorocha and Governor hope uzodinma are currently locked up in a Battle for political Supremacy.

It is important to state at this point that my concern is how security officials who are Constitutionally supposed to be at the vanguard of protecting lives and properties are deployed at will by Governors in power to fight of political opponents once the Governor is rapport with the Powers at the centre.

Then one can begin to imagine what this governors will do when they are given or granted the opportunity and leverage to control the funding and General administration of the police force in there States baring in mind the desperation and callousness they deploy so as to crush there opponents.

Governors in the Nigerian context as exemplified by the recent happenings in imo state operate like emperors and Lords of the Manor who can go to any length to remain in there glass houses.

This is the more reason why Nigerians must not allow there legislators to pass this oppressive, anti-people and anti democratic legislation. The law Must not be allowed to see the light of the Day.
