The Power of Youthfulness: Building the Foundations of Life -By Turaki Abdulhamid Yahya

For those in their youthfulness, three qualities are indispensable: patience, perseverance, and discipline. Patience keeps us steady in moments of hardship; perseverance ensures we remain focused in the face of obstacles; and discipline strengthens our will to resist distractions that could derail our destiny. These virtues form the backbone of success far more than mere intelligence or talent.

Youthfulness is not merely a phase of human development; it is the most decisive and formative period of life. It is during this stage that the values, habits, and foundations of character are laid. The choices we make in youthfulness echo throughout our lifetime, shaping not only who we become but also what legacy we leave behind. Indeed, youthfulness wasted is life wasted, but youthfulness lived with purpose, discipline, and foresight becomes a source of honour in this world and salvation in the hereafter.

At its core, youthfulness is a divine trust; a gift from Allah, filled with energy, creativity, and potential. It is the time to invest in knowledge, to cultivate skills, and to commit ourselves to service. It is a period to honour our parents, strengthen our communities, and contribute to the advancement of humanity. Unlike childhood, which is a stage of dependence, or old age, which is often a stage of reflection, youthfulness is a period of active construction.

Yet, there are enemies that threaten the promise of youthfulness; Greed, Fear, and Hesitation. Greed clouds judgment, making one chase shadows instead of substance. Fear paralyses ambition, making one withdraw from opportunities that could lead to growth. Hesitation wastes time, and time is the most precious resource of youthfulness. To rise above these enemies, the youthful must embrace courage, contentment, and faith. A heart anchored in truth and trust in Allah is unshakable.

Youthfulness is not an entitlement but a sacred opportunity. It is a stage that, once lost, never returns. This reality should inspire us to use our energy wisely, to build our lives on solid values, and to commit ourselves to honesty, sincerity, and service.

My dear brothers and sisters, let us see youthfulness for what it is: a divine gift and a noble trust. Let us dedicate this season of life to truth, integrity, knowledge, and faith. If we plant good seeds today, tomorrow will honour us. If we squander this opportunity, regret will be our companion.

And so, we turn to Allah in prayer:
O Allah, we thank You for the blessing of youthfulness. Guide us with wisdom, strengthen us beyond our needs, and shield us from shame and failure. O Allah, grant us good endings, forgive our shortcomings, and make our lives a source of benefit to others.
Ameen.
