“NORTH-EAST GOVERNOR’S FORUM THE END TO INSECURITY IN GEOPOLITICAL ZONE”.
On March 2020, the Governor’s of the six (6) North Eastern state consist of Borno Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, Yobe, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, Gombe Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, Bauchi, Bala Muhammad Abdulkadir and that of Adamawa and Taraba, Ahmadu Umar Fintiri, Darious Ishyaku respective. Decided to meet in Gombe the center of the zone to discuss some critical issues bedeviling the zone especially insecurity among others.
As unity is power” to approach the challenges, in the first meeting of the first quarter of 2020 held in Gombe, the forum unanimously agree to nominate professor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno as pioneer chairman, and also agree to meet after three three months to discuss the progress of their position and also comes with other critical issues to table. They also agree to setup a technical committee that consist of attorney general of the respective states to side with security agencies to come with lasting solution that will go on with law and order. Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njod secretary to Gombe state Government become the pioneer head of the secretaries of the group.
The journey so far of the group of excellencies shows it readiness to go to every length to find a lasting solution to their communities, Despite the party differences the leaders have where three among them “Borno, Gombe and Yobe where under the watch of APC while the other three Bauchi, Adamawa and Taraba are of PDP camp”, they set all this aside and focus to their primarily assignment of bringing peace and other dividend of democracy to their people’s.
In their third meeting held in Taraba the head of state’s run to the president in the same day with the resolution of their sitting, where the requested the immediate completion of controversial Mambila Hydroelectric plant, commissioning of completed Dadinkowa Hydroelectric plant, and execution of many developmental projects also they hand over their need in security dealings
The situation of insecurity is gradually becoming history, I have a believe that the effort of the group of head of states will not kiss the dust as it start reflecting in the living, few days ago Yobe state governor give the announcement to return back the use of motorcycle after ten years of banned, Maiduguri metropolitan of Borno state that suffers for a decade without electricity have heard the good news of returning of light in the coming days from the chairman of the forum and the governor of the state. Businesses keep improving where Gombe from the zone become first among thirty six states in ease of doing business.
With the effort and struggle of NEGF the zones is turning to it’s normalcy. After their last meeting in Yobe state the forum schedule to meet in Gombe for the second term on March 2022 where critical issues will continue to be brushed. In the coming meeting the forum expected to elect the their new chair as the tenure of the present chairman has elapsed.
Considering the effort of the governors in their respective states, hopes will be on them to definitely win, overcome this battle overnight. As it’s the collective work, they are always involving security agencies so as they will also render their services. Also with the collaboration with newly formed Northeast Development Commission definitely social problems of the zone will be overcome.
