The triumph of the unsung parliamentarian, Abdullahi Yusuf
In Nigeria, politicians like Abu Kusada are very difficult to find. Despite his position, he never feels superior to the common man in his constituency. He is a simple and down-to-earth person when it comes to social relationships with others. He is always ready to listen to the people’s concerns in order to act accordingly. He touches the hearts of his constituents in many impactful ways.
Abubakar Yahaya Kusada is a serving parliamentarian representing the good people of Kankia, Ingawa, and Kusada federal constituency in Katsina state. This gentle man, who is in his early forties, has achieved an outstanding track record as a public servant and parliamentarian. He previously served as a legislator at the state house of assembly, representing his local government, Kusada, and also served as the speaker at the Katsina state house of assembly in his early thirties.
Professionally, Abu Kusada is an experienced quantity surveyor and a computer scientist. Prior to his entry into politics, he held positions as a quantity surveyor, rising to the level of Assistant Director Town Planning in his local government, Kusada.

Abu Kusada is one of the few parliamentarians who brings job opportunities to the doorstep of the common man in his constituency, positively impacting the lives of many families by providing lucrative jobs to the educated ones among them. He is genuinely loved by his people beyond reasonable doubt.
During the 2023 election, Abu Kusada contested for a third term in the federal house of representatives. Unfortunately, the election was not in his favor, leaving his constituents in great shock. As a man of faith, he embraced the outcome with good faith and consoled his constituents to accept it as part of God’s plan.
Subsequently, the Hon Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc Ahmad Dangiwa, appointed Abu Kusada as a special assistant in recognition of his commitment and loyalty. He pledged to serve the Minister wholeheartedly in delivering the co-mandate of the ministry.
On the 14th of November, 2023, Abu Kusada was sworn in as a Member of the House of Representatives for the third time, representing the good people of Ingawa, Kankia, and Kusada. This was subsequent to the judgement of the court of appeal, affirming him as the rightful winner.
The people of Ingawa, Kankia, and Kusada rejoiced wholeheartedly at this miraculous win of their favorite legislator, as what they thought they were on the verge of missing bounced back to them. The Honorable received a series of congratulatory messages, and the overwhelming crowd that welcomed him in his hometown spoke volumes about how much he was missed.
In conclusion, politicians like Hon Abu Kusada are not receiving the praise they deserve. Perhaps this is because he doesn’t talk too much—his actions speak louder. He is the type of legislator who is always close to his constituents, listens to them, and attends to their needs. He empowers them by securing job opportunities for them. I wish other legislators would emulate him and earn their people’s love by serving them accordingly.
