President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Super Eagles on their impressive 4–0 victory over the Cheetahs of Benin Republic, praising the team’s determination and commitment as they edge closer to qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

In a statement issued after the match in Uyo, the President lauded the players for their hunger, passion, and fighting spirit, describing the result as a moment that has rekindled national pride and restored faith in Nigerian football.

“While the job is not yet complete, I join millions of Nigerian football fans in wishing our team every success in the playoffs,” President Tinubu said.

He expressed optimism that the Super Eagles would secure a place in next year’s tournament to be hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States, noting that the team’s performance had united the nation in belief and hope.

“The mood across the country reflects a shared belief that Nigeria deserves a place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup,” he added.

The President also reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to fully supporting the team and the coaching crew in their qualification campaign.
