Tinubu Mourns Former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Tanko Muhammad
President Bola Tinubu has expressed sadness over the death of former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad, who died at 71 in Saudi Arabia.
President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad.
Justice Tanko, aged 71 and a native of Bauchi State, passed away on Tuesday in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He served as Nigeria’s Chief Justice from 2019 to 2022.
In a condolence message, President Tinubu described the late jurist as an outstanding legal mind, a disciplined administrator and a committed public servant who dedicated much of his life to the cause of justice and the strengthening of Nigeria’s judiciary.
The President noted that Justice Tanko’s judicial career, which culminated in his elevation to the position of CJN, was defined by integrity, courage and a firm commitment to the rule of law.
Tinubu also acknowledged the former CJN’s significant contributions to the growth of Nigeria’s legal system, adding that his legacy would endure, especially among the many professionals he mentored during his years on the Bench.
The President extended his sympathies to Justice Tanko’s family, the Supreme Court of Nigeria, members of the Bar and the Bench, as well as the government and people of Bauchi State.
He prayed that Almighty Allah grants the late jurist eternal rest.
