The President said he received the news “with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss,” noting that Sheikh Bauchi was a highly respected spiritual leader whose impact reached far beyond his immediate followers.

He described the late scholar as a consistent promoter of peace, piety and moderation throughout his lifetime.

“Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi was a teacher, a father and a voice of moderation and reason. As both a preacher and a notable exegete of the Holy Quran, he was an advocate of peace and piety. His death has created a huge void,” Tinubu stated.

The President also reflected on the cleric’s moral guidance and blessings during the 2023 election season, describing him as a “moral compass” devoted entirely to teaching, preaching and guiding the Muslim ummah.

Tinubu extended his sympathies to Sheikh Bauchi’s family, his disciples nationwide and the wider Muslim community. He encouraged them to honour the late scholar by upholding his message of peace, devotion and compassion.

He added that although Sheikh Bauchi’s death leaves a major gap, his legacy will continue to uplift and shape future generations.
