Tinubu Requests Senate Confirmation for Newly Appointed Service Chiefs
President Bola Tinubu has requested the Senate to screen and confirm new service chiefs, including General Olufemi Oluyede as Chief of Defence Staff and Major-General Waheedi Shaibu as Chief of Army Staff. Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced the screening will take place next week.
President Bola Tinubu has formally written to the Senate, seeking the screening and confirmation of his newly appointed service chiefs.
The letter, read during Tuesday’s plenary session by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, listed the nominees as follows:
- Chief of Defence Staff – General Olufemi Oluyede
- Chief of Army Staff – Major-General Waheedi Shaibu
- Chief of Naval Staff – Rear Admiral Idi Abbas
- Chief of Air Staff – Air Vice Marshal Kennedy Aneke
- Chief of Defence Intelligence – Major-General Emmanuel Undiendeye
Following the reading of the letter, Akpabio referred the request to the Committee of the Whole for screening and confirmation of the nominees, scheduled for next week.
