The Premier League side were at the verge of sinking into the Europa league, but Hojbjerg’s goal at the fifth minute of the injury time allowed Antonio Conte’s team to take over Eintracht Frankfurt who also progressed following a 2-1 victory against Sporting Lisbon.

It was a mesmerizing showdown on the night of Velodrome but Marseille ended up as the unfortunate team.

Tottenham wrapped up the 2-1 victory without their manager,  Antonio Conte in the touchline who was suspended.  Also, their talisman,  Son Heung-min left the pitch in the first-half  following a head injury.

“It was very difficult in the first half but we didn’t lose our minds, we stayed in the match,” said Tottenham assistant manager, Cristian Stellini.

“It was terrible the goal we conceded because it came from a corner that was taken quickly and we were not prepared.

“This is an important lesson for the future, but in the second half something changed and we played a fantastic second half,” he added.
