Transparency International to FGN “Pay whistle-blowers success fee and get valid intelligence on more stolen funds”
While many locally and internationally, commend the coordinating minister of the economy and HMF for steering the nation’s economic ship towards efficiency and sustainability, the dominant argument advances the need for collaboration and cooperation in increasing government revenues.
The Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning (FMFBNP) whistleblowing programme is designed to encourage anyone with information about a violation of financial regulations, mismanagement of public funds and assets, financial malpractice, fraud and theft to report it.
Unfortunately many cases have been reported as inconclusive with FGN refusing or delaying in paying successful whistle-blowers cases.
Speaking in anomaly, a certain whistle-blower represented by a law-firm has reported being unrewarded by FGN, has revealed how over $25B has been identified offshore.
The law-firm and whistle blower who work hand in hand with the FBI and foreign intelligence agency have however vowed not to release further information on these stolen funds, until FGN meets its obligation in paying the statutory reward owed for previous cases.
Transparency international and financial crime experts have opined, that these loose funds can be useful to Nigeria at a time when FGN is in dare need to meet its infrastructure deficit and address local and international debts.
