Nigerian Army troops rescue 11 kidnapped victims and recover arms during coordinated operations across Zamfara, Sokoto, Kogi and Kwara under multiple security operations.

Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued 11 kidnapped victims and recovered arms and other items during coordinated operations across the North-West and North-Central regions.

A reliable source at the Army Headquarters disclosed to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday that the successes were achieved under Operations Fansan Yamma, MESA, Enduring Peace (OPEP) and Whirl Stroke (OPWS).

According to the source, troops operating under Operation Fansan Yamma rescued two truck drivers who were abducted along the Magami–Gusau road in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

“The terrorists were forced to abandon the victims during a hot pursuit by troops through their withdrawal routes,” the source said.

In Sokoto State, the source added that troops recovered an AK-47 rifle abandoned on a farmland at Garin Hilo village in Sabon Birni LGA, following actionable intelligence from local residents.

“Similarly, under Operation MESA, troops in collaboration with vigilantes rescued nine kidnapped victims in Kogi and Kwara States.

“Three farmers abducted at Ojiwo Egume community in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State were rescued alongside a motorcycle.

“Also, six villagers kidnapped at Ikosin village in Ifelodun LGA of Kwara State were freed after a hot pursuit that forced the kidnappers to flee and abandon two motorcycles,” the source said.

The source further disclosed that efforts are ongoing to rescue four other victims abducted at Owa Onire in Ifelodun LGA during a road construction project.

Meanwhile, troops have suspended operations in parts of Taraba State as part of efforts to restore peace and order in troubled areas and other parts of the country.
