U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday declared that America is the world’s “economic engine” and criticized Europe for “not heading in the right direction,” amid tensions over Greenland.

Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, where discussions on Greenland have dominated, Trump said: “The USA is the economic engine on the planet. And when America booms, the entire world booms. It’s been the history.”

On Europe, he added: “I love Europe, and I want to see Europe go good, but it’s not heading in the right direction,” noting that parts of the continent were “not recognizable.”
