Trump Expresses Fury Over Alleged Christian Genocide in Nigeria
U.S. President Donald Trump expresses anger over alleged Christian genocide in Nigeria, calling the country “a disgrace” and warning of potential aid cuts and military intervention unless the government does more to stop the killings.
United States President Donald Trump has voiced strong anger over what he described as the ongoing genocide against Christians in Nigeria.
Speaking on a conservative radio programme on Friday, in remarks later highlighted by Fox News, Trump claimed that thousands of Christians are being killed in the country. He criticised the Nigerian government for failing to protect Christian communities from attacks by Islamic extremists.
Trump had earlier designated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” over the allegations and warned that the U.S. could take military action if the killings continue, calling Nigeria “a disgrace.”
He also hinted that Washington may cut off aid to Nigeria as part of new measures to pressure the government.
During the radio interview, Trump repeated his position, saying:
“Nigeria is a disgrace. The whole thing is a disgrace. They’re killing people by the thousands. It’s a genocide, and I’m really angry about it. And we pay, you know, we give a lot of subsidies to Nigeria. We’re going to end up stopping.”
The U.S. President insisted that Nigeria must “do more” to stop attacks on Christian communities or face consequences, including halting aid and possible military intervention.
