U.S. President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he has agreed to meet with “various parties” at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, to discuss his controversial push to acquire Greenland, an autonomous Danish territory.

Trump’s renewed effort to assert U.S. control over the Arctic island has sparked significant diplomatic tension, with European leaders rejecting his proposals and raising concerns about their alliance.

“I agreed to a meeting of the various parties in Davos, Switzerland,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. “As I expressed to everyone, very plainly, Greenland is imperative for National and World Security. There can be no going back — On that, everyone agrees!”

Trump has repeatedly argued that the United States must secure Greenland for national and global security reasons as rival powers, including Russia and China, increase their activities in the Arctic.

In his posts, he also shared images and claims illustrating his stance on Greenland’s strategic value and suggested support among some allies.

Trump’s comments come as Europe prepares to respond to his tariffs and diplomatic pressure over Greenland. Several European leaders are set to attend Davos and have signaled their intention to push back against what they see as coercive tactics.
