Trump Says He Was Too ‘Busy’ to Meet Kim Jong Un, Hints at Possible Return to South Korea
Former US President Donald Trump says he was “too busy” to meet North Korea’s Kim Jong Un during his South Korea visit but hints he could return. Trump praised his “great relationship” with Kim, reviving talk of possible renewed diplomacy.
Former US President Donald Trump has said he was “too busy” to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Un during his recent visit to South Korea, but suggested he might return in the future.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on Thursday, Trump reflected on his past diplomacy with the North Korean leader.
“I had a great relationship with Kim Jong Un,” he said, hinting that renewed engagement between both sides might be possible if circumstances allow.
Trump, who met Kim three times during his presidency between 2018 and 2019, is known for his unprecedented outreach to Pyongyang, though talks later stalled over denuclearization demands and sanctions relief.
His comments come amid renewed global attention on the Korean Peninsula and speculation about whether Trump, if re-elected, might revive his personal diplomacy with Kim.
