Understanding Those Calling For Malami’s Nomination As Vice President -By Ahmad Umar

It is no more news that the serving Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, SAN is one of the best materials being considered for the post of Vice President of Nigeria as reported by a reputable national daily, the Dailytrust of Tuesday, the 14th June,2022.
Those pushing for Malami’s nomination as VP have a good point needs to be understood by all and sundry.
Their arguments are summarised below:
EXPERIENCE:
As the first Nigerian to hold the office of Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation (an engine room for Government policies) for almost a decade avail him abundance experience of running the government at federal level. His position also believed to be the most Senior Minister known as Prime Minister in Parliamentary System of Government. Thus, Malami is full of experience to serve the office of the President let alone office of the vice president.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
As Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), educationally Malami is over qualified to become the vice president or even the president of the country.
STABILITY IN GOVERNMENT POLICIES:
Malami as good brain in President Muhammad Buhari- led Federal Government’s initiatives especially in the area of social investment, Agriculture and infrastructural development need to remain in the system to fully execute these laudable programme for the benefits of millions of Nigerian, hence the call for his nomination as vice president of Nigeria.
EQUALITY IN THE APC FAMILIES:
The major parties that formed the APC in 2014 were:
1- CPC
2-ACN
3- New PDP
4- ANPP
The present APC Presidential flagbearer for 2023 Presidential election ;
- H.E Bola Ahmad Tinubu was from ACN bloc;
- the National Chairman of APC Sen. Abdullahi Adamu was from NewPDP bloc;
-the Organizing Secretary of APC H.E Sulaiman Argungu was from ANPP bloc;
So CPC as the major merger player is about to be sidelined hence the pushing for Abubakar Malami’s name for the post of VP from CPC bloc to balance the equation.
OTHER ACHIEVEMENTS SO FAR:
Malami’s creativity, patriotism and competency make him to save Nigeria from losing over $10billion (N5 Trillion) from P&ID as well as Inter Ocean Oil cases against Nigeria.
- Malami also used same God given talents and recovered over N1 Trillion stolen funds from within and outside the country.
-Malami as one time Committee chairman of Continental Shelf Projects, explored the way to get additional territory to Nigeria without any conflict: a brilliant idea President Buhari boasting of.
- Malami ensure the effective implementation of preventive anti-corruption policies such as TSA, BVN, IPPIS and numerous supporting Executive orders.
- He initiated many valuable Reformation in the Nigerian Legal System to mention but only few.
In view of the above, it is obvious that Abubakar Malami, SAN would be a good Vice President if we (Nigerians) are so lucky to have him.
