Unilorin, KWASU Join ASUU Nationwide Strike After Congress Meetings

The University of Ilorin and Kwara State University have joined the ASUU nationwide strike after congress meetings, confirming their commitment to the union’s national directive.

The University of Ilorin (Unilorin) and Kwara State University (KWASU) have officially joined the nationwide strike declared by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Both institutions, located in Kwara State, reached the decision after marathon congress meetings held on Monday.

Confirming the development, Dr. Alex Akanmu, Chairman of ASUU at the University of Ilorin, told Vanguard:

“We are committed to the ideals of the strike, so we have joined the nationwide strike.”

Similarly, Dr. Abdulganiyu Salau, Chairman of ASUU at Kwara State University, affirmed that the institution had aligned with the directive of the national body.

“We are part of the agreement of the national body, so this time around we have joined. It was the declaration we made after our congress today,” Salau said.

The move by the two universities adds to the growing list of institutions across Nigeria complying with ASUU’s nationwide industrial action.
