United Nigeria Airlines Accepts Apologies from VeryDarkMan and Mr Jollof After Onboard Altercation
United Nigeria Airlines has accepted public apologies from VeryDarkMan and Mr Jollof following an onboard altercation on Flight UN0523. The airline commends aviation authorities for their swift intervention and urges passengers to uphold safety and decorum during air travel.
United Nigeria Airlines has announced that it has accepted the public apologies tendered by social media personalities Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, and Freedom Atsepoyi, widely called Mr Jollof.
In a statement issued by the airline’s Public Relations Officer, Chibuike Uloka, the company confirmed that it acknowledged the apologies and the duo’s pledge to avoid any behaviour that could jeopardize aviation safety on United Nigeria flights or any other airline.
The statement read:
“United Nigeria Airlines acknowledges and accepts the public apologies issued by VeryDarkMan and Mr Jollof following the onboard altercation that occurred during the boarding of Flight UN0523 from Asaba International Airport to Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on 17 November 2025.
“We take note of their commitments expressed via their respective social media platforms to refrain from any conduct that could compromise aviation safety, order, or decorum onboard United Nigeria Airlines flights or any other airline. We trust that this undertaking will be honored in the interest of maintaining a safe, respectful, and orderly travel environment for all passengers.”
Uloka also commended the coordinated response by aviation authorities.
“We appreciate the swift and coordinated intervention of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, Airport Security, AVSEC, other relevant aviation agencies, the Asaba International Airport Authority, and our crew and operational teams, who managed the situation professionally and in full accordance with established safety protocols.”
He added that the airline remains committed to working with the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) and regulatory bodies to curb unruly passenger behaviour within the aviation sector.
United Nigeria Airlines urged passengers to continue cooperating with airline staff, security agencies and airport authorities to maintain safety and order in air travel across the country.
