US Vice President Vance Says Gaza Ceasefire Still Intact Despite Minor Clashes
US Vice President JD Vance says the Gaza ceasefire remains in place despite minor clashes and Israeli airstrikes, reaffirming President Trump’s peace deal between Israel and Hamas.
US Vice President JD Vance has affirmed that the ceasefire in Gaza remains in effect despite reports of renewed violence, including Israeli airstrikes and alleged attacks by Hamas fighters.
Speaking on Fox News on Tuesday, in remarks later shared by the White House on social media, Vance acknowledged limited hostilities but maintained that the truce was holding.
“The ceasefire is holding. That doesn’t mean that there aren’t going to be little skirmishes,” Vance said.
“We know that Hamas or somebody else within Gaza attacked an IDF soldier. We expect the Israelis are going to respond — but I think the president’s peace is going to hold.”
According to Gaza’s civil defense agency, at least nine people were killed in airstrikes across several parts of the territory. The attacks followed an order from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for what he described as “powerful strikes” on Gaza.
Vance’s comments come amid ongoing efforts by Washington to preserve the fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, which President Donald Trump brokered earlier this month.
Vance was among several senior US officials who visited Israel last week to reinforce the truce.
President Trump had also toured Israel and Egypt on October 13, calling the ceasefire a historic breakthrough.
“At long last, we have peace in the Middle East,” Trump declared during his visit.
