We’ll ensure Makurdi township roads is ready before Easter – Governor Alia

The Governor gave the assurance weekend during the funeral Mass for the late Tor Sankera, HRM Abu King Shuluwa at the Saint Gerald’s Majella Cathedral, Katsina-Ala, Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, LGA, of the state.

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue state has promised to complete the ongoing construction of Makurdi township roads before the coming Easter celebration.

He also assured that the construction of rural roads across the state would soon commence to open up the rural areas in order to aid the transportation of farm produce to the urban centres.

The Governor gave the assurance weekend during the funeral Mass for the late Tor Sankera, HRM Abu King Shuluwa at the Saint Gerald’s Majella Cathedral, Katsina-Ala, Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, LGA, of the state.

He informed also that already “the Makurdi-Gboko, Yandev-Ugbema-Katsina Ala, Yandev-Buruku crossing point and Kastina Ala- Wukari highways have been captured in the 2024 budget.”

He assured that his administration would continue to press on the Minister of Works Senator Dave Umahi to commence work on the said Federal Road roads.

The Governor noted that the death of Chief Shuluwa was saddening as his contributions to the development of the state would be missed.

Earlier in his sermon, the Catholic Bishop of Katsina-Ala Diocese, Most Reverend Isaac Dugu called on traditional leaders and other stakeholders to join hands with those in Sankera axis to end banditry, kidnappings and other forms of criminality in the area.

The cleric also admonished the Tor Tiv, the King Makers as well as the Governor to ensure that people of proven integrity were selected to fill the vacant Tor Sankera and Ter Katsina-Ala stools.
