Introduction

When I wake up this morning, I just foreshadow that why Nigeria doesn’t allow woman to become our president, even for once. That Is why, I clench my pen to have some reason and discussion with everyone here.

First and foremost: Since, we Nigeria gained our independence from Britain in 1960, Nigeria has been ruled by men who took the reigns of governance for almost four decades. Ever since it has been tales, of more worst than achievement, we have tried both the civilian and the military men. Those two have not take us to the promise land, their rules have been characterized by embezzlement, mismanagement of our resources, looting of the treasury, silencing opposition by killing, increase in unemployment rate among our youths and so on. Having allowed men to rule this our great nation with little or nothing in terms of achievement to show for it. I thinks that it’s time to allow our women to take over the baton of leadership of our country for some reason, that me and you know about.

Secondly: In country such as Britain and India, women have ruled them before with a lot of achievement recorded. For instance: Queen Victoria ruled England for some years and made England what it’s today. Also, Margaret thatcher was one of prime minister of Britain, and she ruled Britain for thirteen years and did great things for Britain and her influence was felt throughout the world. Indeed she was known as iron lady. Mention should also be made of Indira Ghandi of India who ruled her country for twenty two years and did well.
These are few instances of women who elevated the status of their country. This without any doubt, can repeat itself also in Nigeria, only if a woman is given the chance to rule our country.

Furthermore: A woman is naturally endowed with the gift of love and care. She is able to exhibit these gifts in the way she controls and cares for her children at home. While at the same time, she express her love to her husband. Mean while if we allowed a woman to rule our country, there is no doubt that she would transfer this gift to govern this country. She would be interested in the development and growth of this country. And this will create a peaceful atmosphere for all of us to live in and enjoy our country.
And there is also an adage which says: “What a man can do, a woman can do it better”. This adage says is very true and applies to every aspect of life, including the presidency.

Women are known to be more diligent at work than men. If a woman should be our president, she would be able to change our orientation of nonchalant attitude to work to loyalty and commitment.

In my own view, A nation such ours, blessed with abundant natural resources, known before as one of the richest nations in the world, is now a shadow of her past. But I believe that if a woman become the next president, she would be able to lift Nigeria to greater, heights, and also restore our lost glory.
