Why Gaza Became So Beautiful And Developed -By Joe Dauda
The President of an Arab country (Egyptian President El Sisi) would not open his doors to Gaza women, men, and children because of the risk that Hamas and their brothers in Islamic Jihad and other groups in Gaza may use that opportunity to get into Egypt, get to the Peninsula, and begin to attack Israel from there, thereby forcing Israel to retaliate and endangering the 1979 Peace Treaty Egypt signed with Israel.
(History 101)
Fact
Egypt controlled Gaza from 1948 (when modern Israel was born) until 1967, assuring that a Palestinian state would not arise there. During its governance of Gaza, Palestinian refugees were kept in squalid camps and Gaza had one of the lowest standards of living in the world. The Gazans, according to Encyclopedia Britannica, were living in extreme poverty.

Fact
Life in Gaza improved dramatically upon its capture by Israel in 1967. For the next 20 years, until the first intifada, Gaza had one of the highest economic growth rates in the world. Universities, hospitals, schools, etc. were built there by the Israelis and Gaza went from almost no indoor plumbing to nearly universal plumbing, except for the UNRWA-run refugee towns which already had indoor plumbing.

Fact
Israel’s Prime Minister Menachem Begin sought to return Gaza to Egypt in 1979 as part of the Camp David accords (brokered by the United States), after which Egypt could have helped Gazans as much as it wanted in any way it wanted.

Comment:
Egypt refused to take over Gaza in 1979 although Israel was willing to give it up.
Fact
Egypt currently refuses to temporarily open its borders to Gazan refugees to ease the humanitarian crisis.

Why?
Why?
Why is no single Arab country opening up its borders to take in the Gazans, including Egypt, which set up a field hospital for the Gazans at the border but would not take in a single one of them as refugees? Of course I’m not the only one who has noticed this. Others have noticed and they are asking questions. One of the reasons the President of Egypt gave for his staunch refusal to accept Gazans as refugees was that opening up the borders of Egypt to Gazans could also bring in militants into Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, from where they might launch attacks on Israel and endanger the peace treaty Egypt has with Israel.
Did you read that well?
The President of an Arab country (Egyptian President El Sisi) would not open his doors to Gaza women, men, and children because of the risk that Hamas and their brothers in Islamic Jihad and other groups in Gaza may use that opportunity to get into Egypt, get to the Peninsula, and begin to attack Israel from there, thereby forcing Israel to retaliate and endangering the 1979 Peace Treaty Egypt signed with Israel. But there are other fundamental reasons why no Arab country is opening its borders to the Gazans, in spite of their current difficult situation. Of course both Egypt and Jordan like to say they are refusing to accept Gazans because there is no guarantee that Israel would allow them to return to Gaza after the war. But compared to the possibility of saving these Gazans from death or great suffering (as collateral damage in Israel’s ongoing campaign) is that a strong enough reason to deny them refuge? There is actually a fundamental reason why the Arabs refuse to host the Gazans, even as they face an existential threat.
